Hello, welcome to my page!

I am a second year PhD student in the Mathematics department at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. I am currently working with my advisor Prof. Serkan Gugercin. Before moving to the US for my PhD, I completed my bachelors and masters from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune and spent the last six months of my master’s project working at Max Planck Institute of dynamics of complex technical systems, Magdeburg.

Broadly, I am interested in reduced order modelling which involves constructing a small surrogate system for a large-scale dynamical system while retaining interesting properties of the larger system. This is particularly useful when the larger system is too difficult to simulate because one can infer the behaviour of the larger system by simulations on the reduced system. I am expecially interested in deriving reduced modelling using a systems theory approach. Another aspect of reduced modelling is constructing a realization (dynamical system) from some form of data. This typically refers to input-output measurements (time domain) or frequency response (frequency domain) and my masters thesis was mostly focused on constructing ‘balanced’ realizations from input-output observations.
